Porto is a great wedding destination

Situated in Northern Portugal. Porto is historical and a stunning city. Surrounded by amazing natural beauty and century old buildings that gives charm and tell the history of the Portuguese people. Porto is filled with breathtaking churches and unforgettable landmarks. It’s a dream to walk through Porto’s streets.

Located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres, and its core was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, as “Historic Centre of Porto, Luiz I Bridge and Monastery of Serra do Pilar”. The historic area is also a National Monument of Portugal.[15] The western part of its urban area extends to the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. Its settlement dates back many centuries, when it was an outpost of the Roman Empire. Its combined CelticLatin name, Portus Cale,[16] has been referred to as the origin of the name Portugal, based on transliteration and oral evolution from Latin. In Portuguese, the name of the city includes a definite articleo Porto (“the port” or “the harbor”), which is where its English name “Oporto” comes from

City of Porto

Why Porto is one of the best wedding destinations in Europe?

It’s a very fashionable town full of amazing streets, sights, water, bridges, monuments, churches and landmark buildings. Porto is where the best Portuguese wines come from. The Douro Valley:

The Douro is the highest-flow river of the Iberian Peninsula. It rises near Duruelo de la Sierra in Soria Province, central Spain, meanders south briefly then flows generally west through the north-west part of central Spain and into northern Portugal, to its mouth at Porto, the second largest city of Portugal. At its mouth it meets the Atlantic Ocean.

The river is notable for the scenic Douro railway line, tourism more generally and – relatedly – the creation and production of a mildly fortified wine: port, grapes, conventional wines and other agricultural produce. A small tributary of the river has the Côa Valley Paleolithic Art site which is considered important to the archaeological pre-historic patrimony, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
